When you take a lord on, give them a few fiefs, as much as to make them powerful in their own right, and make sure they are grouped together. Look for lords dissatisfied with their liege. Honorable lords are best, Martial second best.

When you recruit a lord, be sure they aren't total bastards. You absolutely need more lords, or you will get steamrolled. You shouldn't have to bear the burden of defending every fief yourself. Even if you win every battle you fight other lords can ransack your country and take your fiefs while you lick your wounds from your previous battle. My first advise would be to seek out lords to recruit. I'm not sure of all the ins and outs of floris kingdom management, but I can offer some general advise, particularly about campaigning, though it would help to know some of the specifics of your circumstances, like what territories you own, your level, your relations with other lords and Kings, your treasury, your income, etc. I'm very new to this whole kingdom thing, and am eager to explore all aspects of it. If you have any advice, tips and such, please let me know. Plus, I don't really know how to managed the ins and outs of the kingdom. I'm itching to start a few more wars and grab some more territory, but I'm afraid I'll just get steamrolled. Ever since I've been recruiting like mad and filling my castle as full as possible.

I started my kingdom by attacking the Nords when they were vulnerable with three other wars, and quickly sued for peace which they accepted. From the start, I sent out emissaries to each of the kings, most of which recognized me as a monarch (so I got a ridiculous amount of right to rule I'm at 93 right now). I'm playing with Floris, so I have quite a few more options than vanilla. The only problem is that I'm a bit overwhelmed and don't know what to do. So I've been playing Warband for quite some time now and finally got around to starting my own kingdom.
